A Christmas Tradition

We put up our Christmas tree a week before Thanksgiving this year because I’m learning that you just have to get things done when you have time!  We were going to be staying up at my parent’s house for Thanksgiving this year which meant I was in charge of pies and dressing.  And we were going to be leaving for Salem the next day.  So the tree up, the week before Thanksgiving sounded good to us!  I was especially excited this year because it was going to be the first time Ayla saw a Christmas tree!  I wondered what she would do when she saw it….and she did absolutely nothing.  She’s the perfect child who can crawl with the best of them and she has yet to go up to the tree and try to pull off anything!  (I realize how well-behaved of a child she is more and more each day.)  J

My very favorite part of putting up the Christmas tree when I was little, was finding my very first ornament that my parents ever got me and putting it on the tree myself.  This year, Blair and I got to hang Ayla’s first ornament.  And it means so much to me.  I picked it out special to describe what she means to us and what I think of each time I look at her.  It’s a silver cross with pink and blue stained glass in it.  And at the bottom of the cross is a charm that hangs.  On it it reads – God Hears Our Prayers.  I can’t describe the journey Blair and I went through to get Abe better than that.  And now, Ayla can carry on the tradition of hanging her own first Christmas ornament each time we put up the tree.
