Cell Phone Photo Dump

I tried to take some video on my cell phone the other day and it told me that there wasn't enough space.  So I decided to clean up a bit.  Here are some photos that I don't think I've ever posted to our blog yet.

Valentine's Day

It was fun being with the kids on Valentine's Day.  When we woke up, we gave Ayla and Jasper their presents.  Jasper got his baby book (I know that's not much fun) and Ayla got a purse with candy and her beloved Sesame Street Phone.  I kid you not, this little girl found commercials for this toy on Youtube and has been diligently asking for it.  I found it online and ordered it for her.  She was soooooo excited to get it!  Fancy and Grand Dude kept the kids overnight and Blair and I got to go to dinner and then get a full night's sleep.  The next day, Nini and Pappaw came up and watched the kids so that we could go to dinner again!  It was nice for us to be able to sit and talk for a while.

Our Sweet Babies

Today was just a simple "hang out" day at home.  It's one of the perks I have for being on maternity leave.  Jasper is starting to stay awake for longer periods of time now, so we were all playing in the play room downstairs.  The babes were being super happy and smiley, so I took advantage of it and snapped a few pictures.  It seems though, that most of the pictures I'm getting of Jasper recently just happen to have him in the exact same outfit every time!  What can I say - we're making the most of the clothes before he grows out of them.  He's starting to get a little roll on his thighs now!  :-)

Those Eyes!

Beginning of the drooling stage I think

Just look at that smile!

Ayla's Boo Boo Horror Story

Regretfully (not) I don't have any pictures for this post.  And I'm not necessarily proud of what I'm about to write!  But some things simply must go documented:

Today Ayla refused her nap.  She's only done this like 3 times ever.  I decided to let her try and cry it out for a bit in her bed though so that I could get in a quick 25 minute workout.  It was quiet for the entire workout, so I assumed she'd fallen asleep.  However, just as I finished, I heard Ayla begin to let out screams.  "Mommy!"  "Mommy!"  And then they turned to cries.  When I got to her bedroom, I found my darling little girl completely naked in her bed.  She had stripped completely down and was holding her foot.  She proceeds to whine at me, "I got Boo Boo on my foot!"

As I took a closer look at the situation at hand, I noticed traces of Boo Boo all over her gorgeous white bed spread, all over her feet, and an entirely too large pile of Boo Boo at the head of Ayla's bed.

I won't go into detail on the stripping and washing of the bed spread and sheets, the extremely long bath that took the place of her nap, or the lesson I learned today.  :-)  Instead I'll end this post on an encouraging note:  My little girl knows how to take off all of her clothes all by herself.  :-)

Like Father Like Son

The boys happen to both have dress shirts with patches on their elbows.  After church I had them pose for a quick pic.  It seems that it's harder to see the brown patch on Blair's elbow though.  No matter what though, I'm afraid we have another Blair Twin in the making.

Jasper's 2 Month Check-Up with Dr. Ciaccio

I left Ayla at Fancy and Grand Dude's house to take a nap while I took Jasper to his 2 month check-up with Dr. Ciaccio.  When we got there they told me that he would be getting his first round of shots.  I felt so bad for my poor little boy!  The nurse came in and checked him and we found out that he weighs 11 pounds, 2 ounces right now.  He's definitely gaining weight!  And he has grown 2 full inches since his first visit.  Dr. Ciaccio was impressed with his growth (even though he's still only in the 25th percentile in about every area).  When I took him into the hallway to be weighed, I had to take off his diaper, and as I was carrying him back into his room, Jasper peed all over me!  I couldn't believe it!  But at least I had on a black shirt, so it wasn't visible.  :-)  I'll get you back for that one day little boy.  Based on his weight, we're allowed to up his dosage of his Zantac as well.  I'm happy about that because I just want to make sure that he's comfortable.  It was a good appointment overall, and our sweet boy went home with Band-Aids on each little thigh.  What a trooper.

Hilary's Birthday

All I wanted for my birthday was to be able to take Ayla for strawberry ice cream.  She likes to pretend that she goes out and gets it all the time (I have no idea where she came up with this idea).  I figured she would hate it, but I wanted to give her the experience anyway.  Fancy, Ty Ty, Abe, and I went to Dairy Queen before her nap time and got her a sundae.  And she ate every last bite!  I couldn't believe it.  She's so darn cute I tell you!

Big Boy!

Chad got me a Selfie Stick for my birthday, and it's actually coming in handy!

Jasper is 2 Months Old

Our sweet little man is already 2 months old!  He seems to get bigger each and every day.  The other evening I was nursing him in his rocking chair and I realized that his legs already stretch to the other arm of the chair.  He's going to be a big boy I think!  Jasper has such a calm and laid back personality and he appears to watch most things go on around him.  But when he wants something (like to go to sleep or eat - the only 2 major things he does right now) he makes sure that we know it!  He lacks patience at times and his little high pitched screech lets you know he means business!  Alongside Jasper's laid back persona, he also features a bit of a nosy side - a Huff Trait for sure. ;-)  At 2 months, Jasper:

  • Weighs 11 pounds, 2 ounces
  • Is 22 1/2 inches long
  • Drinks 4 ounces of milk in one feeding
  • Has rolled over from his belly to his back a few times
  • Still has the smelliest toots I have ever encountered
  • Has a bowel movement about every 3 days
  • Likes to potty in his bath water
  • Loves to be up over someone's shoulder to see what's going on at all times
  • Gets fussy from about 6:00 - 9:00 pm
  • Has done up to a 5 hour sleeping stretch at night
  • Is starting to smile at us! - He's got little dimples!  I love them!
  • Still has the completely most kissable cheeks I've ever come in contact with
  • Loves pulling my hair
  • Is beginning to focus on people who talk to him
  • Let's out a little yell when he wants your attention - I remember Ayla doing this too
  • Has his acid reflux under control
  • Hates his car seat
  • Can sit up in his bumbo seat now!
We love you little buddy!  Thank you for being so darn cute.  Thank you for being so calm - most of the time - and Thank you for being ours!  Happy 2 months!

Super Bowl Party at Al and Eric's

We were invited to watch the super bowl over at Al and Eric Coburn's house this year.  It's funny how you make new friends because of your kids!  Ayla goes to daycare with Graham and Vivi.  We had dinner, and watched the kids play.  And then we left before half time.  But I wouldn't have had it any other way!  We're totally into a different era of our lives right now!  :-)

These 3 love each other!
Vivi clearly enjoyed her dinner

Jasper's 1st Trip to Salem

We went down to Salem this past weekend to show off our boy and to celebrate my birthday.  We got to take Jasper to Mammaw Mary's house, see Aunt Sarah, to Mike and Kathy's house, and to finally see Mary Beth, Shelley, Allie, and all the kids.  It was so fun to see everyone pass him around and hear what they thought of him.  Everyone says that they see Poppy's eyes which makes us happy.  And they all think he looks just like Blair.  We had Nini's homemade pizzas for dinner on Saturday night and she made me my favorite strawberry cake.  It seems that the weekends are so much slower and more relaxing down there, but they are always over too quickly!

She absolutely loved him!

Ayla loves Mammaw Mary's walker

Somehow Blair always turns into being the horsey while down in Salem right now
