This year we headed to Salem early Saturday morning after my Christmas Break began. We went down for the weekend to celebrate Christmas with everyone and have some much needed family time. It was spent mostly napping, playing with cousins, eating, and opening gifts. The first day of vacation, KK came over to play for the afternoon and the kids had a blast. Jasper refused his nap and would only sleep on Pappaw Bob. He sure loves him! That evening, we did Christmas with the whole Rudder side and the cousins ran around the house having the best time together. Jasper even got in on the fun and learned to climb the stairs...we're in trouble now! The kids got lots of goodies and it was wonderful to watch their excitement as they tore open their wrapping paper! The Big Dog was good as always with yummy appetizers. And the next morning we went to church. We were so proud of Ayla for going up to the stage with KK and Hadley to play their annual Christmas bells, but she sure wasn't going to sing any of the Christmas Carols. The stage was hopping this year with frowns from Ayla, Smiles from KK, and kids puking left and right. They might be a small town, but they keep it interesting! :-) We did Christmas with the immediate family Sunday night and enjoyed opening gifts one more time. Ayla is clearly obsessed with opening gifts this year! She wants to help everyone open. It doesn't surprise me at all considering all the messes she loves to make. Her eyes still light up at the opportunity of a huge mess. It was a pretty quick trip because we had to rush back to Indy late Sunday night in order to make all of the doctor appointments that Blair and I scheduled for the next day. Next week should be a blast though! Blair has taken off all next week so we can have some major family time! Excellent start to the holiday season 2015!
