Sleeping Through the Night!

When we went for Ayla's 4 month check-up I talked to Dr. Ciaccio about her not sleeping through the night yet.  From birth to 3 months, she would sleep 6 hours, then wake up once to eat and go back to sleep for another 4 hours.  Since 3 months, she has started to wake up almost every 3 or 4 hours and to eat each time.  We tried feeding her a formula bottle with cereal in it at night to see if it would help her sleep better, but nothing was helping.  So Dr. Ciaccio told me that it was okay to leave her in her room for the night and let her cry for about 30 minutes at a time.  She was getting into the habit of waking up to eat at night even though she wasn't really hungry.  So we went home and that night decided to try it.  The first night, she woke up the 3 times that she had been waking up, but she only cried for 13-18 minutes each time she woke, so I never went in to get her.  Finally at 6am I got her and she did great!  The 2nd night, she woke up every hour from 1:30 to 6:00, but I let her cry.  I'm not really even sure how long she cried each time though because I kept falling asleep while waiting to hear her fall back asleep, but at 6:00am I went and got her again and fed her.  The 3rd night she slept 9 hours straight!  We are now onto our 3rd day of her sleeping through the night until about 6 am.  I'm so proud of her and I just can't believe how big she's getting so quickly.  My little baby is growing up!
