It's the Little Things in Life That Make You Smile

I just need to say that I love, love, love watching my daughter grow.  Today after I picked up Ayla and got her home, I took her out of her car seat only to get a gigantic gummy smile from her.  She then grabbed my face and gave me (what I believe to be) the longest slobbery kiss a 5 month old little girl could give.  I carried her up the stairs to change out of my work clothes and I thought, "This is exactly the kind of moment that I longed for during those 2 years of patiently waiting on God to grant me the gift of Ayla Blair."  I just love the little things about her right now!
  • She's discovered that if she drops something, someone will pick it back up for her - and believe me she's practicing this one quite a lot right now :-)  She will look at the ground, take a toy and hold it over her highchair, then simply let go and watch it fall to the ground.
  • She understands that when we put her in her highchair, that it's time to eat cereal.  She patiently watches us prepare it, then opens her mouth wide to eat the whole meal.
  • When I pick her up out of her crib, she looks back at where I just picked her up from
  • She doesn't get startled by the loud start of rushing bath water.  Instead she watches my hand go toward the knob, sees me turn on the water, and watches it fill her tub
Ayla is just the best gift we could ever have in the whole wide world.  I love her so much.
