Silly Cousins

This was a random, fun day in Salem.  Kinsley had an Elsa cup that Ayla was in awe of, and when Aunt Lee-Lee got back from the grocery store, she had a Doc McStuffins one for Ayla.  She was thrilled beyond belief!  And you know the silly cousins had to take pictures together with them.  I spent some time with the girls playing with play-dough also, so they posed with their silly guys a bit too.  It's days like this that you really get to say you are enjoying the little things in life.

Ayla is 2 1/2

Oh our little Miss Ayla is already 2 ½ years old.  She’s growing up so quickly.  Just the other day, Blair and I were talking about how we need to be careful of what we expect of her at times.  She speaks so well and understands so much that it’s easy to forget that her maturity level is still only at a two year old level.  Boy is she cute and almost every time we are out somewhere with her, people ask us if we’ve ever heard of Shirley Temple because she looks so much like her.  Fancy has taught Ayla how to sing “On the Good Ship Lollypop” just o amuse people after they ask us.  At 2 ½ years old, Miss Ayla Blair:

  • Weighs ____________ pounds, and is _______________ inches tall
  • Loves to Sing – Educational Songs, Nursery Songs, Bible Worship Songs, etc.
  • Does a hilarious, devious growing laugh when she’s excited about something
  • Likes to tell people what to do
  • Is exhaustingly stubborn
  • Loves to rough up her bubby
  • Wants you to lay with her every night as she goes to sleep and sing songs, say prayers, pat her back, and “lay pillow”
  • Climbs onto the toilet all by herself to go to the bathroom, and tells you to wait outside the door so she can try to wipe herself too
  • Is still obsessed with yogurt – she says, “It’s my FAVORITE food!”
  • Can throw a seriously mean fit when she wants to
  • Is working on brushing her teeth all by herself
  • Knows all her colors
  • Loves School
  • Still loves to take care of her baby dolls and cook in her kitchen
  • Continues to get a light in her eyes when she dumps something to create an entire mess (She’s going to drive me crazy with this one)
  • Has got one heck of a compassionate side when it comes to her baby brother
  • Knows what she wants, when she wants it (she may or may not take after me)  J
  • Has tried a KinderMusik class, but we’re pretty sure it’s not her thing – we need to see what she thinks about gymnastics next.  It’s time we teach her how to use all of that crazy energy she has!  Jumping off the couches, steps, and coffee tables is not an option!
  • Is such a smart and silly little girl
Ayla – our lives would have so much less entertainment in them without you around.  You make every day interesting and worth living.  We love to see what you’ll do next, and you make us proud each and every day.  We love you with our whole hearts.  Being your mommy and daddy is such a wonderful gift!

Jasper 9 Months

He is getting big so quickly.  It's like every time we turn around, he's almost a year old!  Jasper is still the happiest baby I've ever known in my life.  He gets excited when people come in the room and then he waits patiently for them to acknowledge him.  And then he gives off the biggest grin you could imagine.  What a sweet little boy we have.  He's the daycare favorite in his room and so darn good looking.  :-)  At Nine Months, Jasper:

  • Weighs 18.5 pounds.  And is 27.5 inches long.
  • Is working on crawling - he can get onto all fours and then rock back and forth
  • Could possibly skip crawling and go right into the bear crawl - which is what we're starting to see happening little by little
  • Likes to say BaBa, and Dada (I wonder if when he says baba he's actually trying to say Mama)
  • Loves his big sister
  • Screams and claws his way above your head when someone is pretending to get him
  • Has the most hilarious laugh - he cracks up when you call him crazy
  • Is extremely ticklish - his belly and neck are a weak spot
  • Has found his little ding dong!  Haha he likes to pull on it when he's in the bathtub - and if Ayla is in there with him, she'll say, "You find your ding dong Bub?  You find it?"  It's really quite hilarious
  • Is obsessed with yogurt just like his sis
  • Is starting to eat some finger foods - such as teething wafers and little cheeto puffs.  He can't handle the small yogurt melts or the puffs yet because he lets them sit on the back of his tongue and then gags on them
  • Sleeps wonderfully through the night.  He's asleep around 8:15ish and we have to wake him up at 6:40 to get to daycare on time
  • Naps very well at daycare - and Eats a ton there to!
  • Every morning, Jasper has a whole banana mixed in with oatmeal and formula.  Then for lunch he has some sort of fruit, vegetable, and pasta.  For dinner, he does another fruit, vegetable, and then usually a pasta or yogurt.  And then while he's at daycare, he also has 3- 5 oz. bottles of milk, and a yogurt for a snack.  (How is this kid not huge?)
  • Enjoys reading and likes to turn the pages when his sister doesn't do it for him.
  • Can sit up from a laying position and then lay back down again
  • Is beginning to try to pull himself up onto things
  • Goes Boo-Boo about 6 times per day
  • Had his first ear infection - and smiled all the way through it
  • Holds onto you like a spider monkey - clinging for dear life when you hold him
