Jasper Paul is HERE!!!

What a ride!  I never expected our life to get this crazy so fast!  Below is an excerpt from Jasper's book that I've been writing him throughout my pregnancy.

Oh My Gosh – it’s hard to register everything that has happened today.  I’m honestly not even sure where to begin.  Today has been a complete whirlwind!  Your sister had to come home early from daycare with a 102 degree fever yesterday.  Your Fancy went and got her and gave her some rest.  Then she brought her to see you on the ultrasound screen at Dr. Bell’s office.  Your daddy and I decided that he would stay home with Ayla today so that she could start to feel better.  I had to go to school because I was doing an observation with my boss and then later that afternoon, I was going to watch a possible maternity leave sub teach a model lesson.  I really needed to get everything done for the day so that I could check some things off of my list…especially since you would be here next week!
Around 2:30, I finished observing my leave and I met with my boss to confirm that I would be using Chessa Watkins as the maternity leave sub for the remainder of the school year.  He sent her to my classroom to discuss a time that we could meet before the 11th and Robin McQuitty was in my classroom as well finishing up lesson plans for the next week.  I had to pick up my students from Library at 3:00 and at 2:50, my cell phone rang.  It was Dr. Bell and she was calling to tell me that she had gotten back my blood results from the day before.  My liver levels had risen again and there was now protein in my urine.  She was worried that this was going to be more than Cholestasis.  She told me to leave school immediately, go home, finish packing the rest of my hospital bag, and come to the hospital.  She said that we would be having you tonight.  Immediately, I started bawling my eyes out.  Robin and Chessa listened to me relay what Dr. Bell had just told me and got me out of my classroom.  They had another teacher pick up my students and teach them science, and took me into a different classroom so that I could call your daddy.  He was very surprised to hear that you would be on your way soon!  Then I called your Fancy and she came right over to the house to pick up Ayla.  Your daddy and I drove to the hospital, got all checked in, and met the doctor who would be delivering you.  Since Dr. Bell was not at work that evening, she could not deliver you.  Doctor Foxlow was a very nice woman.  She said that she would like to run one more set of labs just to be sure that everything was what they thought it was.  She gave me 3 different possibilities.  Possibility A was that my labs would come back bad and they would take you tonight.  Possibility B was that my labs would come back okay and they would decide to keep me at the hospital to watch me up until Sunday and then they would take you at 37 weeks.  Possibility C was that my labs would be okay and that they might possibly send me home for a couple days and then take you.
But when my labs came back, they were even worse than before.  They decided that I had started out with Cholestasis, and then things had spiraled into Severe Preeclampsia, and then finally into Help Syndrome.  None of these things are good.  Help Syndrome is extremely rare, and it was time to get you out of me.  They said the NICU was a possibility for you since you would be coming early, so they brought a couple women down from the NICU floor to talk with your daddy and me.  They explained the possibilities as about 20% chance you would be coming there after you were delivered.  After we finished talking with the NICU ladies, I was wheeled back into the operating room to meet you for the very first time.  Your daddy came in a few minutes later with the video camera so that we could get your birth on camera.
Before the operation started, I had a spinal injection, and then they went to work on getting you out of my belly.  At one point, I began to feel sick to my stomach, so the anesthesiologist gave me some medicine to help me not get sick and it worked right away.  Your daddy video recorded the entire event.  It was amazing!  I could feel Dr. Foxlow tugging and pulling on my belly.  And then all of a sudden, you were here!  Your daddy shouted, “It’s a boy Hilary!”  I couldn’t believe it!  You immediately screamed and cried.  Your cry was like music to my ears.  You peed on everyone around you, and when you went over to the cleaning table, you peed on the ladies there twice!  It was hilarious.  Before too long though, you got quiet, and the NICU nurses told me that you were getting tired.  Although your APGAR scores were 8 and 9, they decided it was time to take you with them.  They let me give you a kiss on your sweet little face, and they took off with you down the hall.  I waited for about 15 more minutes for Dr. Foxlow to finish sewing me up and then they rolled me back down the hall to the recovery room.  While we were on our way, I saw your Nini, Pappaw, Great Grandma JuJu, and your Grand Dude in the waiting room.   Your daddy stayed behind to tell them what you were!  Fancy was in the room waiting on me to come back, and I got to tell her that you were a boy.  She was so excited!
At that point, they started me on a magnesium IV drip.  They planned to keep me on it for 24 hours.  They said that once you were removed from me, and my body started to go back to normal, that there was a very good chance that I could seize since I had preeclampsia and help syndrome.  The magnesium drip is supposed to make you feel absolutely horrible, but I didn’t feel too bad!  They gave me some pain medicine and then your daddy started taking family up to see you.  Each time he would go up, he would Skype me so that I could see you as well.  You were so cute.  I loved you already, but I couldn’t touch you!
