Jasper 6 Months

Our little Bubby Boy is already 6 months old!  It's crazy to think that he's been here on earth for 1/2 a year already.  Jasper is such a good boy.  He's so completely mellow and truly loves his big sister.  He's always watching her in a room and smiles and laughs at her.  He especially likes to see her throw a fit.  It makes him laugh sometimes!  At 6 months, our sweet, little boy CAN/IS/DOES:

  • Weighs 13 pounds, 11 ounces and is 25 1/2 inches tall
  • Roll over from belly to back very easily
  • Rolls from side to side on his back, but not quite over to his belly yet
  • Is starting to wake up to feed again at night - Not quite sure where that came from unless he's just hitting a growth spurt, which could be very likely since he's not the biggest kid on the block!
  • Has tried carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, bananas, and pears - he's going to be a fruit lover for sure!
  • Is ticklish under his neck
  • Laughs out loud and it's so adorable
  • Gets frustrated if he drops something and can't get it - he will get your attention by throwing a cry/fit
  • Likes pulling on his toes
  • Chews on everything but isn't drooling much yet
  • Watches you eat your food and will grab it if you let him
  • Has gone swimming once in the baby pool in his bumbo - he seemed to like it!
  • Usually takes one really long 2 1/2 - 3 hour nap a day and then 2 shorter 45 - 1 hour naps
  • Likes kicking in the bathtub
  • Refuses a bottle when people try to give it to him - it takes a few tries and then he will finally give up and take it
  • Likes playing in his exersaucer
  • Has no interest in standing up on his own yet
  • Loves blowing raspberries and having a squealing conversation with you
  • Such a happy baby!  He's content watching others and is smiling 95% of the time
  • Will let anyone hold him
  • Likes putting his feet in his mouth
When we went to Jasper's 6 month check-up with Dr. Ciaccio, she was a little concerned with his size.  His weight is in the 1 percentile, length is the 5th percentile, and his head is the 10th percentile.  She was concerned because he's basically trending downward on this growth scale now and that's not necessarily good!  We decided to start feeding him 3 meals per day, every day now, and also supplement 2 teaspoons of formula into his food twice per day as well.  This will give him some extra calories and hopefully help him start gaining a few fat rolls!  Let's hope it works, because this is the 1st formula my boy has had to have...boo.
