We Will Miss You Pappaw Bob

Today Pappaw Bob passed away.  We will miss him so much.  I'm so glad that Aya and Jasper had a chance to meet him, be held by him, and listen to him sing and whistle.  Jasper was always mesmerized by his whistling.  I'm so happy that Grandpa is in heaven now with Aunt Cindy and not in any more pain. Here is one of my favorite memories of Ayla singing with him just a few months before he passed.

Let the Big Dog Eat!

Jasper has been getting so big lately! He loves to feed himself. We were cracking up at him not too long ago when we looked over and saw his feet up in his high chair. It reminded us of a picture that Ayla had just like it.

Saturday at the Zoo

We spent Saturday afternoon at the zoo as a family. It was really nice to get some time together and watch our kids have so much fun. There was a dog show there that Ayla was in love with. I don't know what it is about that girl and dogs! I am so thankful that we have two happy healthy babies and that we are lucky enough to get to spend weekends together like these.

Last week Ayla told of her daycare people about her trip to the zoo. They were shocked when I informed them that we had not been there. Our little one must have a large imagination or a really good memory because her story was completely believable to them! I made sure to get a picture of Ayla with the monkeys while we were there today so that we could prove she was actually there this weekend!

Jasper Gets His 1st Ear Infection

Well the time has come - Bub has gotten his first ear infection.  I've taken him to the doctor 2 other times when I have thought he may have had one, and I've been wrong both times.  So you end up walking out of the doctor's office with no new advice and $30 less in your pocket each time you go!  Well the other day, Miss Lindsy (Jasper's daycare girl) told me that he had been pulling on his right ear a lot during the day.  I just figured he was teething, and tried to tell myself that he didn't need to go to the doctor again.  Then I remembered that my school insurance gave us a new benefit that will let me take the kids to a free med-check.  A brand new one had just opened up right next to our house that week.  So I decided to make him an appointment.  And low and behold - Bub's right ear is bright red, inflamed, and completely infected.  (-1 for Mom).  The office was amazing because the visit was free and since they had bubble gum medicine right there in the office, we got to take that home for free as well! 
Go figure, the one time I don't choose to take him to see Dr. Ciaccio, and he's got his first ear infection.  But in all fairness, the kid smiles constantly!  It was almost a joke to take the happiest kid on earth in to see a doctor and to find out that he had a horrible infection.  The Bubbster is simply one of a kind I guess!

Happy 85th Birthday Junie!

It had been a while since we had been down to Salem for a visit.  Everyone was going to meet in Seymour on Sunday evening for dinner to celebrate Junie’s 85^th birthday, so we decided to drive all the way down to Salem instead so that we could swim for the day and see some family.  We had a really good time just relaxing, swimming, and hanging out with family.  Ayla and KK had a blast playing in the water.  And later that evening, we drove back up to Seymour to eat dinner at a buffet restaurant.  After dinner we took some pictures of the whole family and of the babies.  It was a really nice day!  We’re so happy to have such a hip-hoppin’ 85 year old granny with us still!

Bubby Wants to Crawl!

Jasper is starting to push up on his knees and rock back and forth.  He's getting very close to crawling!  He's also starting to try to pull himself up onto things.  He's not quite strong enough yet, but we bet it's only a matter of time.  The thing we're learning about Jasper is that when he's ready for something, it happens before you know it.  He takes off with it and that's just that!  We think this will be a quality of his forever.  Blair and I made a little bet because of Bub's persistence:  Blair thinks that Jasper will be walking at least 2 steps by October 1st.  I think he'll just be standing and holding onto things to walk by then.  We shall see soon enough!

We Deserve Ice Cream!

One day after school, we finished eating dinner early and decided that we wanted to go get some ice cream.  So we called up Fancy and Grand Dude to invite them along and headed to Ritters.  We ate Glaciers and Ayla picked a giant chocolate cookie with strawberry ice cream in the middle.  She's a girl who knows what she wants!
