Our Boy Can Roll Over!

I feel bad admitting this - but we haven't put Mr. Jasper on his belly for tummy time as much as we did his sister.  The reason being that our little Miss Ayla is sometimes a tornado and we're afraid that she'll stomp him!  Tonight we had Fancy and Grand Dude over to eat dinner, and since we had extra hands on deck, we put him down on his belly, on a blanket, on the floor.  Within 5 minutes, he had flipped himself onto his back!  I about died.  I wonder how long he's been able to do this!  He's so strong and we didn't even know it!  Of course, he only did it when Grand Dude and I were in the room, so Blair didn't get to see it.  And he wouldn't do it again.  But I'll catch him in action soon!  I just know it!  Seeing my little boy do his next trick was definitely a Proud Mamma Moment!

Working on trying to catch him roll over - Ayla is such a big help!

So serious!

Nothing better than still being in jammies, watching Frozen, and taking pictures in the middle of the morning - I love maternity leave for that reason!

It's a Warm Day Outside!

It was actually warm enough to get outside today, so Ayla played around in her NunNun car for a little while and then I took the kids on a walk.  I love our new double stroller!

Japer is Officially a Reflux Baby

Our poor little boy had been super fussy and just plain uncomfortable for several days.  He would pull his legs to his belly, let out little screams, and twist in pain a lot!  I knew that he was having trouble going to the bathroom, but it seemed to be more than that.  I had seen this behavior before in Ayla and I had heard the little sounds that he had been making before too.  He definitely has acid reflux.  Jasper's is different than Ayla's because he doesn't spit up much.  I think he spits it up, but then swallows it back down and it really hurts his little tummy!
It was the last straw when he wouldn't go to sleep last night.  I had to hold him up all night long in my sleep and then feed him when he woke up.  I hardly slept a wink that night, and I could hear him even an hour after eating still refluxing.  I felt so bad for him!  So I put on my "Mommy Hat" and called the doctor.  I told them that I had already tried everything I needed to try and I was sure he had acid reflux.  I told them that I wanted to try him on Zantac, and they immediately called in a prescription.  It has worked wonders even since the first day!  I'm so glad that I went with my gut instinct and called the doctor.  Hopefully my little boy will eat a bigger meal now rather than grazing, start to gain some more weight, and feel good while doing it!

Nini & Pappaw Come for a Visit

We love it when Nini and Pappaw come up for visits!  Ayla is always so excited to see them!  And Nini and Pappwe love holding their new little grandson too!  On this trip, Bob and Teri brought up our 1/2 of the cow we purchased (sounds weird) and hung out for a bit.  We went to Steak 'N Shake for lunch and then Teri and I went shopping for a little bit.  It was a nice day to relax and spend some good quality time together!

Dinner with The Roberts Family + Vivianna!

Kim and Dean are finally back from Nicaragua with their new little girl Viviana.  She's a spitfire for sure!  She honestly reminds me of another Ayla Blair!  We went to church and then were going to bring over dinner for the family, but Kim and Dean insisted that we eat dinner with them.  So we hung out at their place and watched the girls interact.  It was so fun to watch them!  I think they will be very good friends one day!

Playing in the Snow & Baking Cookies

Today, while Jasper was asleep, I got some much needed 1:1 Ayla Time.  It was the perfect day to get out in the snow.  It was going to be getting very cold later that day, but there was snow on the ground at the moment and it wasn't that chili out yet!  Ayla has been dying to wear her snow boots outside in some snow for the entire season, but we haven't really had much snow yet.  So we got bundled up and went outside for a few minutes.  We walked around, fed Rosey and Star a dog treat, and then built a tiny little snowman.  Ayla kept calling it Olaf from the Disney movie Frozen.
Later that afternoon, we baked sugar cookies and she licked the batter.  I love little moments like these!

Hanging Out with The Rafferty's

Now that Jasper is a bit older, some of our closest friends are asking to come visit!  Ally Mac and her family came over on Sunday to watch the Colts game and eat chili with us.  It's so funny to see where we are now that we're older.  It used to be Ally Mac and me taking silly photos together after spending the entire weekend together when we were little.  Now a days, we're chasing around our little ones and trying to get in a quick conversation between little girl giggles!

Ayla and Maddy ate chili and apples together - such cuties in their pig tails!

These little ones could care less about a girls photo, but we were thrilled!

Brynn Comes to Visit Jasper

Brynn is one of my very best friends, and we've grown apart in the past couple years.  I miss her, but I know that we'll get close again one day.  I was so excited to get a call from her asking if she could come over to see Ayla and meet Jasper.  I was thrilled to get to sit with her, drink a cup of coffee, catch up, and watch her see my pride and joys.  I couldn't resist snapping a quick photo!

Jasper Can See and Ayla is Just Plain Strange!

This morning I was feeding Ayla her breakfast (Every morning, she wakes up, immediately asks to see Jasper, and then requests Yogurt and a Banana.) when I looked over to admire our new little one.  Jasper was swinging away in his swing looking up at the mobile.  I remember snapping a picture just like the one below of Miss Ayla when she was about 1 month old.  It looks like our little boy is right on track with his big sis at this time!  Go get 'em "Japer"!  Being a preemie has nothing on you!  :-)

Look at that intense focus!

She's just so animated!

Jasper is 1 Month Already!

It's crazy to think that Jasper is already 1 month old.  He only should have been born 5 days ago, and yet he's been here so long!  He's so cute and already growing!
At One Month, Jasper:
  • Grunts like a boy
  • Makes boyish faces
  • Can pee pretty high into the air!
  • Has very smelly toots
  • Sleeps about a 4 hour stretch at night
  • Loves to nurse
  • Is nosey like his sister
  • Doesn't cry much - he's pretty laid back!
  • I think he's going to get acid reflux like his sister
  • Completely loves to be held by anyone and everyone
  • Is going to have big eyes like his daddy and sister
  • Is my sweet, sweet little boy with the softest cheeks ever! - My favorite thing is to kiss them and hug them!
  • The scale says he weighs close to 10 pounds (but I don't believe it)

She still steals the show most of the time

She loves him to the moon and back - she wants to kiss him good night and the first thing she asks for in the morning is to see him.

You're so darn cute Mr.Jasper!

So Precious

So innocent

We call him Hoss, and her The Boss

Clearly she wasn't joking when she told me she was all done taking pictures

Visiting with Cousins Mandy, Abby, Ainsley, Landrey, Aunt BJ, and Fancy!

Mandy and Ali were in town for the holidays, some of the girls came over for a quick visit one afternoon to meet Mr. Jasper Man.  Abby, Ainsley, and Landrey were dying to hold him and feed him.  They got to!  But it was Mandy who got the best gift of all....Jasper hasn't had a bowel movement since 4 days ago.  His toots are seriously the smelliest things I've ever smelled, and he "lets them fly" quite frequently I must say!  All the girls got to stand back and watch Mandy hold him while he cleared out his belly of everything!  We called Mandy "The Boo Boo Whisperer" because we just knew that he would go soon.  And he did later that night!  Thanks Mandy!  Come again soon!  :-)

Hang in there Mandy!
